Why mom forces me to read the devotional - Mom's assignment

Every morning my mom reminds me and my sister to read a devotional that has scripture and an article for everyday of the year. My mom won't allow us to do anything else if we haven't read our devotional for the day and prayed. So sometimes when we turn on the tv or use the computer before reading the devotional, she forces us to read it even though we don't want to.

I think that she forces us to read the devotional because like forcing us to make our blogs, she wants us to develop constructive habits that will help us in our life. But in the case of the devotional, she wants us to develop a habit that will build a strong and solid relationship with God.

She also forces us to read our devotional and make a blog about it because she wants us to reflect on the article for the day and make us realize how we can apply it in our life by praying and asking God how we can do it.

Most of the time, when we don't leave the house, my sister and I spend most of our time watching tv, playing video games, and using the computer.I think she wants us to do something more productive and constructive so that we don't spend most of our time on our electronics. Making our blogs about the devotional article of the day also helps us practice our writing and grammar.

Everyday we can enjoy all our blessings like the computer, tv, and etc. I think that mom wants us to take time every morning by reading the devotional every morning to thank God for all the blessings he has given us and thank him we can enjoy them everyday.

The devotional also tells me how I can have a better life and how I can ask God to help me through everyday problems and struggles. Some of the examples are like the other posts in this blog because my mom wants me to post what i've learned and how i can apply it in my life.

Mom can get really annoying sometimes and sometimes gets me pissed but even though I feel that way, I know that mom just wants us to have the best and that she's doing it for our own good. So i appreciate what he does for us even when she forces us to make essays like this one.

“Your first priority” – Mom’s assignment

" I serve God alone and pleasing Him is my number one priority. I seek Him above all else." Matthew 6:24,33

This article is about putting God first in your life before anything else especially money. We should do this because most people think that when you have money you can get anything. But in reality, money can only buy so much. But if you put God first in your life, he’ll give you more than enough so that all your needs are met, but not too much to spoil you.

I can apply this to my life because sometimes I think that money can get me what I want but I don’t realize that I need God more. I should always make sure that God is first in my life so that I can get the best, because I know that God knows what’s best for me.

“Discover who you really are” – Mom’s assignment

“My determined purpose is to know Jesus more and more each day.” Philippians 3:10

This article explains a story in the Bible of a woman who’s been bleeding for 12 years and when she touches the edge of Jesus’ coat, she was healed (Mark 5:25-34)

The author of the article said that most of the time he pictured himself as the woman until God spoke to him and told him to picture himself as the one wearing the coat. He also mentioned Romans 13:14 “Clothe yourselves with Jesus Christ.”

I think this can apply to me because I could be the one in the coat and helping others find God. I can do this by praying and reading the bible until I start developing God’s own characteristics just by spending time with him.

What I learned from the National book store success story

After reading this story, I learned that I have to start building characteristics like being hardworking, diligent, persevering, and determined so that I can achieve greater things when I grow up.

In this story, I read that Maria Socorro Cancio learned to become more hardworking and diligent because even as a child, she had already started working at a candy factory and had summer jobs because their family had financial problems.

Then when I read that she had to start National Bookstore from scratch 3 times: First, during the Japanese occupation; Second, during the American occupation; And third, when a typhoon blew away their store’s roof and left all their supplies soaking wet. I learned that I have to be determined and persevering.

What I learned from the lots a pizza story

From this article, I learned that I should expand on my good ideas. Like when Terresita Ngan Tian and her husband found that their pizza business was doing well, they expanded their business until it was a million peso business franchise.

When I have a good idea, I shouldn’t keep it to myself. I should share it to others and if it’s a success and it does well I should expand on it and think of ways on how I can make it function better and improve.

“River running dry” – Mom’s Assignment

This article can apply to me because sometimes when I read the bible i feel like I don’t get much out of it, or I feel like I don’t learn much. In this article, it says that when we feel that way, it means that we need to dig deeper and try harder to understand what God is trying to tell you and then act on it. Because when god speaks to you, you shouldn’t just listen, you should also act on it.
